Located in Ompah by the Mississippi River at 1311 Struthadam 

This farm has been in our family for over a hundred years. My great grandmother was born and raised on the farm, and my grandfather then ran the farm for some time raising beef cattle.

Later In the late seventies and into the eighties my family was making maple syrup again. We stopped making syrup at the end of the eighties. The bush sat idle until till my parents started making syrup In 1995 when they fired the family evaporator for the first time since the eighties. That year we had close to 1500 taps. In 1997 we built a brand new sugar camp, also installed a brand new evaporator. In 1998 we were hit with the Ice Storm. A minor set back, but we pushed through. We had around 3200 taps. We grew again in 2001 to close to 5600 taps. In 2004 we grew again to close to 6700 taps. In 2005 my parents decided to stop tapping the bush and it rested until 2013. After completing my schooling at Kemptville College I returned home, and In 2014 we tapped the bush once again. We improved the operations with many new technologies. With the present operation we have close to 8000 taps. With another expansion to the sugar bush coming in the near future.

 

The Christmas lights are another story. It started with birth of my daughter. My dad started putting up a tree on the deck of the house. Then some lights on the bushes and the evergreen trees around the house. Then it started to grow. The light bug hit him! We put lights on the house and around the windows. At this point we noticed people were driving here to the house to look at the lights. That’s when we found out neighbours in the community had entered us into the local light contest in the news paper and we ended up winning.  In 2013 that’s when things got big fast. We were renting a cherry picker, and doing bigger trees. In 2015 we contacted Animated Lighting which brought the Christmas lights to life, along with a FM transmitter to listen to the music in your car, while you watch the lights dance to the music. We then started to hire a crane so we could do even bigger trees around the property. In 2019 we purchased a brand new wagon so we can take you on a tractor drawn wagon ride through the light display, which gives a very unique perspective of the property. 

 

Every weekend and all of Christmas break we offer Hot Fresh Made Mini Donuts, Hot chocolate, along with other treats of the season including our Homemade Fudge.

So from a 100 Christmas lights to close to 200,000 lights and still growing. We hope you take time to come to see our magical Christmas show. So on behalf of our family we thank you for all of your continuous  support.
